Plain Idlis

Ingredients:

4 cups heaped boiled rice
1 cup heaped Black gram - (husked, whole)
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Rock salt -3 tsp heaped
Yield: 40 idlis (Approx.)

Method:

Plain Idlis Soak dhal and fenugreek together and rice separately for 3 hours. Grind dhal till smooth and frothy. Grind rice to fine semolina consistency. Add salt and ground dhal to the rice and mix well. Keep in a large container, so that there is enough space for the batter to rise. Next day morning blend the batter well before pouring in greased idli plates and steam for 7 to 8 minutes in pressure cooker without weight.
